Supervisor Kolar is serving her 2nd term as a Director on the Wisconsin Counties Association Board of Directors.  She also previously served as Co-Chair of the City-County Liaison Committee.

A retired U.S. Navy Captain having served 28 years on active duty, Mary has served in leadership roles with a wide depth and breadth of responsibilities supporting multi-million dollar operations. She has extensive experience running the day-to-day operations of small to large organizations.

As former Chair of the Dane County Veterans Service Commission, Mary and her fellow Commissioners worked together with the Dane County Veterans Service Office to ensure veterans in need have a life line available to set their lives in a positive direction.

While employed at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art for 7 ½ years, as the Director of Public Operations, she led guest services and a security force including undergraduate and graduate students.  At MMoCA, Mary hired and trained 6 formerly homeless Veterans for successful re-entry to the workplace.

Having served as Vice President of the Wisconsin Veterans Museum Foundation Board of Directors, Mary collaborated with the WVMF Board and members of the Wisconsin Historical Foundation to develop plans mutually beneficial to both organizations and museum visitors in downtown Madison.

Mary’s educational achievements include a BS in Marketing, University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, a MA degree in Adult Education, University of Rhode Island, and a MA in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College.

Mary was elected to the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Place Condominium Owners Association in 2009 and served as President of the Board for 5 ½ years. During her tenure, the board worked together with the over 700 owners and the management company to maintain and improve the quality of life at Metropolitan Place.

As former Chair of the Media/Membership/Development Committee of Capitol Neighborhoods Inc. (CNI), Mary led the successful implementation of an online CNI membership application form.
